Aloha!

Oh Hawaii, how we love thee!  Our family has a special place in our hearts for Hawaii. We fell in love with the islands when Tatum was 2, and have tried to go back as much as possible since then. There's just something about the islands that brings us to a peaceful place. Happiness, no stress, no rules, just US...our little family of 4.

This year was no exception to those feelings. We all relaxed a little more, bent the rules a little bit, and enjoyed each and every sunrise and sunset. We came home with full hearts.

Life as we know it...

Here's a little phone dump of all the fun we've been having.

Jax 9 Months

Oh Jax, you crazy little 9 month old Nugget...

What a JOY you've been this last month (and all the months before that).

Your stats are:

22 lbs! 28 inches
Babbling...saying Dada more than anything else.
Standing and cruising on all the furniture.
Fastest crawler this side of the Mississippi.
Bff=Sister T
Favorite activity: following Mama around and whining/yelling.
Bottles=No THANK YOU.
Food=YES PLEASE
6 teeth coming in on the top and 2 on the bottom.
Perfect health, per your 9 month checkup.
Cutest giggle/growl ever.
Still don't sleep... :(

You have made our lives so amazing, we are so blessed to have you. Every time you play with T, we sit back and thank God that you are here. Your snuggles are the best, and we love you so much.

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day...a Day of LOVE.

I laugh a little out loud when I think about Valentine's Day, mainly the different meanings it has provided to me over the years.

I think back to being a child, and having my father always present me with a box of chocolates, and feeling so loved. Then as I grew older, of course this tradition continued, but the candy grams would come at school.  It was very important to get one.

As you grow and have a special someone in your life, the day is full of high expectations - mainly expecting something great to then tell your friends about. That usually ended like this: "OMG BFF, ____ got me the most BEAUTIFUL black hills gold (snicker) ring for Valentine's Day. I'm pretty sure we're getting MARRIED!!"

Then the time frame comes when you are newly married, happy to be forever "taken" and the expectations start to fade - somewhat. The expectation is still there for something fancy - maybe a nice dinner or piece of jewelry.

And then there are the years when the children come about...now don't get me wrong, this is not a post about the lack of love as you grow older in your marriage. In fact, it's completely the opposite. Having 2 little nuggets makes this day special for so many different reasons. I have so much fun explaining that we spread the LOVE to everyone, just as God Spreads love all year long. And this day is such a special day to be reminded of that. We spread the love at work, school, and especially at home. These days our Valentine's Days look a lot different - no longer filled with expensive restaurants, diamonds, and candy. Rather, our day is filled with sharing the love to all, burgers & shakes, and still a lot of candy. :)

We started the day off with red, heart-shaped pancakes and heart-shaped eggs. T got to explore her glorious PINK and RED gifts from us, and Jax enjoyed watching all of it go down. Mama got a very nice letter from the man of the house and some beautiful grocery-store flowers that are outlasting the $100 flowers by about a week. We celebrated by having burgers and shakes at our favorite local diner and just loving on each other.

Winter Fun!

This Mama has been slackin' on this blog lately, and really I have no excuse. Aside from the typical, "we've just been soooo busy" excuse that really isn't an excuse at all because frankly, doesn't EVERYONE suffer from being soooo busy?

Anywho...January has been spent loving every dang second of the winter wonderland that Spokane has become.

We kicked off the start of January with a NYE par-tay. We invited KGK over and the ball dropped at our house at 8PM. Jax went straight to bed, and T stayed up for a bit. We followed with a game of Scattegories and promptly went straight to bed at midnight-o-one.

 At the beginning of January, Jax & I made the trek to North Dakota for Grandpa's funeral. It was fabulous to be able to hug on this favorite cousin of mine. Miss her.
We have continued the month keeping sane by playing outside and being crazy with two nuggets. Tatum had a blast learning to ski for the first time, and Jax has been passed around amongst his favorite family members while Mama & Daddy hit the mountain (literally-with their tailbones).

A nice family snowshow hike and other outdoor fun has been wonderful. We have been loving the snow, but we are looking forward to our upcoming trip to Kauia! :) Jax will love the beach, we know it.

Dear Jax...8 Months

Dear Jax,

You are 8 months old!  WOW, this Mama is in shock that you are already 8 months, soon to be 9 months!  You have given us a run for our money and we couldn't be more thrilled. Jax, you are much more exploratory and adventurous than Miss T was when she was your age. She got around like you did, but she wasn't interested in getting into things nearly like you. You enjoy spending your time in the garbage can, tipping it over and pulling things out of it. You also enjoy playing in the toilet, splashing in delight and giving a cheesy grin when you're caught. You like to pull on cords, throw things over your shoulder and try to eat anything that might be on the floor. You are a little tornado, and we love every minute of it. Sometimes you make us a little crazy, like when you're pulling the toilet paper across the room or messing up T's artwork, but we are totally loving every minute of you right now. Last night Daddy said, "He's just wired different than T."

You have also moved on from crawling to standing on anything and everything. You pull yourself up and then walk along the edge of whatever you're holding on to. You want to boogie and keep up with Miss T. You also decided at month 8 that you don't want to take a bottle anymore. You'd rather wait for Mama. THis has been quite the challenge, but we are getting through it.

Jax, we can't wait to see the fun things you accomplish this month. I know you'll be walking soon, and keeping yourself even busier than you already are.  We are so blessed to have you in our lives.

Love you so much.

xoxo
